What happens when you sit down for color in our chair
When you sit down, the first thing we do is talk. We’ll ask what you’ve done to your hair recently, what you loved, what you didn’t, and what you’re willing to maintain. Demi color usually lasts around 6 to 12 weeks. If you shampoo often, use hotter water, or spend a lot of time in the sun, it can fade faster. If you baby it a bit, it holds beautifully.
Root touch-ups depend on how fast your hair grows and how much contrast you have between your natural color and your chosen shade. Balayage and highlights tend to be lower maintenance because they grow out softer, but they still need toning sometimes to stay the right brunette.
At-home care that actually helps your color last
- Use color-safe shampoo and conditioner and keep the water lukewarm when you can.
- Dial back heat. If you’re blow-drying or flat ironing, use heat protectant and don’t crank the temperature.
